Our Program

Learning Through Play
At Hummingbirds Child Care, everything that happens throughout the day becomes a learning experience. Our program is built around play-based learning, where children develop important skills while engaging in fun and meaningful activities.
Each day includes two or more circle times, where children participate in stories, songs, finger plays, and movement activities. These moments encourage communication, creativity, and social interaction.
Children also explore activities such as:
- Open-ended art and crafts
- Dramatic play and imaginative storytelling
- Building blocks and puzzles
- Learning letters, shapes, and colors
- Counting and early math skills
- Literacy activities
- STEM learning experiences
Outdoor play is an important part of our day. Children enjoy twice-daily outdoor time in our fenced-in yard filled with fun play equipment. On colder days, indoor movement and creative activities keep children active and engaged.
Our program is designed to nurture the whole child—mind, body, and self-confidence.

Special Programs

Toddler Chess
Our Toddler Chess program introduces children to the basic concepts and principles of chess in a fun and non-competitive environment. Through simple gameplay, children develop concentration, patience, sportsmanship, and confidence.

Gardening
During the spring and summer months, children help plant and grow fruits and vegetables in our backyard garden. Gardening teaches responsibility, curiosity about nature, and appreciation for healthy foods.

Animal Engagement
One of our most beloved programs is our partnership with the Greenburgh Nature Center. Through their Animal Outreach program, children have the opportunity to interact with animals and learn about wildlife and nature.

STEM Learning
Our interactive STEM program introduces children to the exciting worlds of science, technology, engineering, and math. Through hands-on activities, children explore problem-solving, experimentation, and creative thinking.

Technology Skills
Our technology activities are designed to support fine motor development, finger dexterity, visual motor skills, and coordination, helping children build early digital and learning skills in an age-appropriate way.

Culinary Program
In our culinary program, preschoolers enjoy hands-on cooking experiences that teach cooperation, creativity, and practical life skills. Children work together to prepare simple recipes while developing confidence and teamwork.
